Next Stop:  Philly Half Marathon!

We are gearing up for the Philadelphia Half Marathon, Sunday, November 20th.  This is truly one of the best events in the region, as you run 13 miles through the neighborhoods of Philadelphia finishing right in front of the famous art museum. 

12 week training plan begins the week of August 29th, with our first weekend group run scheduled for Sunday September 4th - check our calendar for more details as they become available.

Surviving Strong does not have reserved spots remaining for this race.  If you wish to participate, you MUST register for the event directly at http://www.philadelphiamarathon.com/half-marathon

ChiRunning!  

We were so excited to have TWO great introductory workshops for ChiRunning in January.  If you are not familiar with Chi Running, Chi Running combines the inner focus and flow of T'ai Chi with the power and energy of running to create a revolutionary running form and philosophy that takes the pounding, pain, and potential damage out of the sport of running.   The Chi Running program increases mental clarity and focus, enhances the joy of running, and turns running into a safe and effective lifelong program for health, fitness, and well-being. 

In addition to the intro workshops, we held a refresher to previous workshop alumni reviewing form and tackling issues including hills and weather.

It's all about the mud!   

After a few days of rain, there was more mud then we could have imagined, but it made for a fantastic event!  38 folks came out and ran, dozens more were there to cheer for our Surviving Strong team decked out in orange on the bright spring day in May.
